Who Is The National Christian Choir?

The National Christian Choir (NCC) is an auditioned choir of about 140 members whose mission is “to glorify God through a unique ministry of music which draws people into a new and deeper relationship with Him”. Singers come from many different churches within a 5-state region surrounding and including our Nation’s Capital. The NCC was founded in 1984 by Harry Causey and since 2011, has been led by Kathy C. Bowman, Director of Music and Ministries. All singers are volunteers who commit to rehearsing most Monday nights throughout the school year. Each member signs this Statement of Faith:

I have received Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, as my personal Savior and Lord, and believe that the Bible is God’s inspired Word to us. My desire is to live my life for His glory, to obey God’s moral and spiritual laws and to use my talents to honor Him within The National Christian Choir.

The NCC offers approximately 12 concerts each year, most of which are free to the public (usually a love offering is received for the Choir). Our annual Christmas Concerts, accompanied by full orchestra, are ticketed events, held each year in the DC metro area and in Lancaster, PA. The Choir has performed at the Kennedy Center, Strathmore Hall, the National Cathedral, Constitution Hall, and numerous other sites in and around our Nation’s Capital. Most of our concerts, however, take place in churches and we have been privileged to sing in many wonderful churches throughout America and beyond. The Choir usually travels on one or two weekend tours each year.

Some notable performances include:
· Focus on the Family Headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO, with Dr. James Dobson
· Moody Broadcasting Network at the Moody Church in Chicago, Illinois with Dr. Erwin Lutzer
· National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX
· Crystal Cathedral on “The Hour of Power” with Dr. Robert Schuller
· Adventist HealthCare System Convention in Winter Park, FL
· Basilica at the Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton
· Kennedy Center, Washington DC, with the Gettys
· “A Capitol Hill Christmas” with Steve Amerson & Babbie Mason at the Cannon House Office Bldg.
· Howard Performing Arts Center of Andrews University, Berrien Springs, MI
· Oakwood University Church, Huntsville, AL

The NCC’s smaller ensemble — “2nd Edition” — comprised of 30 singers auditioned from the full Choir, ministers in smaller venues and has sung in Statuary Hall of the U.S. Capitol for the “Washington: Man of Prayer” event (televised by Daystar) for several years. They sing with the full Choir as well.

The NCC is heard both nationally and internationally on our weekly radio program, Psalm 95, hosted by Kathy Bowman. Please visit our website (www.NationalChristianChoir.org) to hear recent broadcasts and find our concert schedule, a list of radio stations carrying Psalm 95, sound samples of
our recordings, Choir news and more.
